Eskja has been operating a whitefish processing plant since the 1950´s. The processing today is quite different from the old days. Modern equipment, fresh catches, skilled and efficient labour makes it possible to produce high quality products that are exported to Europe and USA. Exports of fresh products such as loins and fillets have taken off over the past three years. Daily deliveries to customers in the UK and central Europe are common today. For the past four years our main emphasize has been the processing of Cod and Haddock, especially Cod. We processed around 2200 tons in the year 2001, but we are aiming to process around 3000 tons this year. The yield being around 50%, production estimated close to 1500 tons this year. The processing is on yearly basis, similar quantities every month, apart from a holiday break for 3-5 weeks in July/August every year. Reliable deliveries and high quality production has been our strength over the years. We have been supplying most of our customers for many years.
By following processing trends we are able to supply the market with variety of products, details of which can be view in the product overview section.
Traceability is an issue we have been concentrating on for the past few years. Our source of raw material is mainly (+95%) from our own vessel, thus making it easier for us to secure traceability from source (catch area/day) to the buyer/consumer. We have invested in special equipment to register/trace the flow of material and products.
